Scotland House Discussion Series - Climate Change and the Just Transition

Scotland House Brussels is delighted to announce the launch of the Scotland House Discussion Series 2020. This opening event of the series - Climate Change and the Just Transition - will focus on the concept of a Just Transition to climate neutrality, in the context of the European Green Deal and will showcase approaches in Scotland and Germany. 

 

Our speakers for this opening event are: 

  • Chris Stark, CEO of the UK Committee on Climate Change (CCC)
  • Diederik Samson, Head of Cabinet of Executive Vice-President Frans Timmermans, European Commission
  • Professor Jim Skea, Chair of Scotland's Just Transition Commission, Co-Chair of working group III (mitigation) of the IPCC and Professor of Sustainable Energy, Imperial College London
  • Dr. Raphael L'Hoest, Deputy Director General, Competition and Structural Policy, German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. 

With moderation from: 

  • Annika Hedberg, Head of Sustainable Prosperity for Europe Programme, European Policy Centre

The event will start at 16:00, with networking drinks from 18:00. The programme can be found in attachment. 

The event will explore the challenges of making Europe the first carbon neutral continent by 2050 whilst ensuring a Just Transition for its people. Further information on the work of the CCC can be found here and the Just Transition Commission here.
