Global Talent Visa Webinar: The new visa scheme for international researchers

Scotland Europa

2nd April 2020 (10:00 – 11:30)

On the 20th February a new visa scheme for International researchers (The Global Talent Visa) came into operation, replacing the Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) visa.

This new visa has been designed to attract the world’s top scientists, researchers and mathematicians to the United Kingdom. It will extend to EU citizens on the same basis as non-EU citizens From January 2020. This means that more researchers can benefit from a “Tier 1” visa.

To support its launch Scotland Europa, Scottish Enterprise and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) who are one of six endorsing bodies, have organised this webinar to provide an overview of how the new system will work and give you the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have.

The  webinar will be of interest to Higher Education Institutes, Research Organisations and Public Sector Research Establishments

There are four routes for eligible academics and researchers to obtain endorsement for a Global Talent Visa, Senior appointments, Individual fellowships, Peer review and Endorsed funders.

The webinar will provide additional information on the endorsed funders who are organisations that are recognised by UKRI as prestigious funders of research and innovation. There are currently over 20 endorsed funders from either national European or International countries ranging from The Royal Society, Wellcome Trust and Cancer Research UK to the European Union (Horizon 2020) and National Science Foundation of the United States.
