To celebrate Europe Day 2017, the European Commission Representation in Scotland will host two events in Edinburgh. On 7 May, there will be a Europe Day Service at St Giles’ Cathedral, which will be led by The Very Rev. Dr Sheilagh Kesting, former Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. Former Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament the Rt. Hon. Sir George Reid will also deliver a short Europe Day address.
On 9 May, there will be a celebration on Castle Street that will be opened by Fiona Hyslop MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Culture, Tourism, and External Affairs. The event will feature cultural showcases from numerous EU Member States, and there will be performances by Ireland, Poland, Romania, and Scotland.
